‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: The spotlight on Colton Haynes’ Roy
There is almost a “Lost”-like quality with what “Arrow” is currently planning for its first handful of season 3 episodes, at least in that we are going to have stories that really focus heavily on some individual characters.
For example, we know that there will be a very Diggle-heavy story pretty early on in the first group, and there is also of course the much-hyped Felicity hour where you will learn a whole lot more about her mother and where she came from before arriving in Starling City. Also, there’s a big Malcolm Merlyn / Thea episode explaining what these two have been up to.
With all of this in mind, it only makes sense that a Roy episode would be not too far behind, and speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Marc Guggenheim makes it very clear when we can see this version of Roy in action:
“Episode 6 is very much a Roy-centric episode that deals very directly with Roy’s place on the team and particularly Oliver’s relationship with Roy.”
This is good news for Colton Haynes fans, given that it ensures that his character receives some recognition and hopefully a story that is independent of Thea. We feel like Arsenal has a whole lot of potential as a character, but so far, a whole lot of that has been hampered for the most part by what was going on with the mirakuru. Hopefully, he can develop a little more of his own identity as a hero … but in order to do that, we figure he will have to also better come to terms with what he did as a villain.
