‘The X Factor’ UK has a new premiere date (and ‘Doctor Who’ competition)

The latest news -For those of you who love “The X Factor,” there is some good news that we have to report right now: The show finally has an official premiere date! Then again, you probably saw this coming a mile away.

ITV confirmed on Wednesday that the competition series will be coming back on the air on Saturday, August 30 at 8:00 p.m. local time, and there will be another show that airs at the same exact time on Sunday. What makes this news particularly notable? Well, let’s just say that it will collide with the last 15 minutes of “Doctor Who” airing that same day on the 30th.

Now, we all know that “Doctor Who” is a national treasure, and while there may not be a ton of fans who watch both shows, there will probably be son. We’re surprised that someone opted to do this at all, rather than just delay the start of “X Factor” for 15 minutes so that Whovians can finish up what they started and jump over. The series really needs however many viewers it can get, especially since it put such a premium this year on getting the jump on the ever-so-popular “Strictly Come Dancing,” which is traditionally its biggest ratings rival.

“The X Factor” has definitely put a ton of stock in what it is trying to do this season, given that they have brought back Simon Cowell to be a judge for the first time in many years. Not only that, but they also have Cheryl Cole again!

What do you plan on watching come August 30, and do you think that this new season of “The X Factor” will be a success? Share some of your thoughts now with a comment, and if you want some further news worth singing about on everything we cover, sign up now for our official newsletter.
