‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8: Why you may not see Penny, Leonard wedding for a while

Here it is -Near the end of “The Big Bang Theory” season 7, one of the stories that obviously received a great deal of attention (and understandably so) was the big engagement of Leonard and Penny. This was in some ways a defiance of the paranoid thoughts that Leonard had about his future back in the 100th episode, and it allowed them to finally make a “next step” after some botched proposals.

So even though the two are now together, there will be no immediate rush to walk, run, or do the robot down the aisle. As with most things related to relationships, the show is taking its time. Speaking per TV Guide, executive producer Steve Molaro has a pretty funny (but also in part true) explanation as to why this ceremony may not be happening in the near future:

“Penny’s first goal is to put the date far enough in the future so everyone knows she’s not pregnant.”

The reason that we say “true” when talking about this explanation is that it works well within what we know about the Penny character and her family life; she’d want to prove to some of them, even the ones that we haven’t met yet, that she is marrying out of love rather than some obligation to. Speaking on this subject, maybe a nuptial is just what we need to finally get some of the other characters onto the show. It feels like Penny’s family is wacky enough based on stories alone to have heard to be worthy of a sitcom in their own right.

Do you think Leonard and Penny should be married by the end of this coming eighth season, or are you fine with waiting for a while and giving them other stories to tackle? Share below, and head over here to get some further scoop on all we cover sent right to your email inbox.
