‘The Newsroom’ season 3: How should Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer series end?

What's next? -We’re back yet again this weekend with another “Newsroom” feature, and this one is going to dive right into a question that we know many diehard fans of the show have been asking for some time: How in the world is the series going to end? Will there be triumph for Will McAvoy and ACN, or will there be failure off of what happened with Operation Genoa?

We’ve mapped out a few possible ending scenarios below that we could see happening, though knowing Aaron Sorkin he will probably come up with something even more out-there and spectacular for Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, and the rest of the cast.

1. Just Another Day at the Office – There is a lot of value in ending the show in a way that feels almost ordinary. These are employees at a newsroom for a cable network. They are not going to end up all billionaires or conquering the world. Just continuing to do their job is in some ways a victory.

2. Will and Mackenzie getting married – Any wedding could be fitting if the show wants to highlight the characters themselves more than the newsroom itself, and we wouldn’t be that stunned if this happened thanks to the way in which the show began. It was about Mackenzie helping Will rediscover his voice, and the two could ride off into the sunset.

3. Complete failure – This would be the bleakest ending, but we could also understand why they would want to see this happen. There is so much competition out there for cable networks that it is only realistic that one of them would eventually fold, and this is a struggling network right now in the wake of Genoa. Maybe Will leaves, takes Mackenzie, and the two get a new job elsewhere.

4. Everyone’s been dead the whole time – Sorry, we had to throw that in there.
