‘The Blacklist’ season 2 spoilers: ‘The Americans,’ ‘Oz’ alum signs on

The Blacklist logo any seasonHow is this for a surprise? It was only a matter of a couple of weeks ago that we first heard that Mary-Louise Parker (“Weeds”) had snagged a major role on “The Blacklist” season 2; now, we are learning already who is set to play her husband.

According to Entertainment Weekly, former “Oz” and “The Blacklist” actor Lee Tergesen has scored the role of Frank Hyland, husband to Parker’s Naomi. Given that the primary ties to Reddington seem to be coming from her, it will be interesting to see what Frank has to do with the action at hand, and if he approves of James Spader’s criminal mastermind suddenly getting in his business.

While production on “The Blacklist” is currently underway on the East Coast, producers are for the most part keeping most matters hush-hush … and for good reason. Given the delicate nature of things that the show has to address, whether it be the latest Reddington rumors or what is next with Berlin, there are many secrets that this show cannot afford to share … at least for the time being.

The new season will officially premiere on Monday, September 22, with the biggest story for the time being actually being the schedule. The show will air new episodes until November, return after the Super Bowl, and then debut in a new Thursday-night timeslot in February opposite “Scandal.” Meanwhile, NBC will use their coveted timeslot after “The Voice” to launch their new Katherine Heigl show “State of Affairs.” This is a risky move, and one we hope does not damage Spader and company.
