‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8: New production date set; cast negotiating contracts

Big Bang Theory -For those wondering whether or not “The Big Bang Theory” is going to start filming again soon, we at least know now that at the very earliest, the show could be back to work next week.

According to a new report coming in now via Deadline, a new tentative production date has been set for Wednesday, August 6. Cast negotiations are currently still going strong, with Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, and Johnny Galecki negotiating together while Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg are doing the same thing. They are all seeking substantial raises to stay on board the CBS juggernaut, and will probably all receive them at the end of the day. The question for the time being is more of just when.

As for whether or not this impacts the show’s September 22 premiere date, it shouldn’t provided that the cast gets back to work before it gets too late in the fall. It is possible that the episode order could be reduced from 24 to 23, but they could make up time somewhere during the season by shortening one of the hiatuses. Given that this would make everyone involved more money, we have to wonder if this would be considered.

For the most part, the entire cast has stayed quiet on the subject of negotiations. It’s helpful that few of them are on social media regularly, and even fewer have been discussing the dispute since the first production date was missed. With that being said, you can go over to Jim’s Instagram to see a series of daily selfies.

We’ll have some more updates on this dispute as time goes by, but we’re sticking to the same opinion we’ve had here mostly throughout: We don’t believe that this is going to massively impact filming when the dust settles.
