‘Longmire’ season 3, episode 10 (finale) spoilers: First photo from ‘Ashes to Ashes’

The “Longmire” finale is going to be a pretty powerful hour … at least if you are willing to judge an episode by a single photo.

This has to be one of the moodiest shots that the show has ever produced, as you can see Henry somewhat in the forefront here thanks to the lighting, even though he is technically sitting behind Walt. The way in which Walt extends his arm also suggests that the two are on the road together.

It’s fair to say that the stakes for both parties right now could not be higher. In the case of Henry, he has to deal with a court that does not seem to be even remotely balanced towards him, and a trial date that was pushed up so far that there is almost no time to prepare for it. Meanwhile, the struggle for Walt is somewhere more along the lines of trying to figure out how to stop Branch, while at the same time trying to put the case of his wife’s death to bed. By the time the finale finishes up, hopefully we’ve got a little bit of closure, and an idea for where the show could go for a fourth season.

With that being said, we still don’t know if that is going to happen. We wouldn’t say that the ratings are down significantly across the board from last year, but they’ve slipped slightly, and the show was already given a smaller episode order this year. It’s also a show that skews older, which means less in the ad-friendly 18-49 demographic that networks look for. (We hate that things are structured this way, but unfortunately they are.) We tell you all of this as an incentive to watch the finale live, since this show needs your help in order to get a chance at a renewal.
