‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Quantum of Solace’ star signs on

The big show -Are you as shocked as we are about how quickly Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” is rounding together their season 2 cast? In between casting Lucy Lawless, the return of Cobie Smulders, and so much more, this is a series that really is getting a lot of it together right now.

There’s also one more thing to report on from a casting front today. According to Deadline, “Quantum of Solace” actor Simon Kassianides has been brought on board in a recurring role for season 2 as Bakshi. Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot more in the way of information out there about him right now. We know that he’s not afraid to make hard choices and embrace controversy, but that is not a whole lot to go on right now.

The biggest challenge with getting all of these actors together for some episodes ahead is going to be just finding a way to make a little bit of sense of it all the new faces, the old ones, and also telling a familiar story with that pressure of Marvel beating down on you. Just remember how difficult it must be for the showrunners knowing that they probably cannot make the world of SHIELD too insane (as it would take too long in “The Avengers: The Age of Ultron” to explain), but they also must make it interesting and layered enough for TV viewers. This has to be a near-impossible balance for them to maintain, but we are rather impressed so far with how they are able to make it happen. This season, at least they’ll get to do it without a movie during the season complicating things.
