‘Big Brother 16’ review: All about the buildup

Zach -Wednesday night’s “Big Brother” episode was all sorts of crazy, especially the final fifteen minutes. We’ve been watching the feeds, so we knew eventually we were going to have an opportunity to see Devin fly completely off the handle. During this episode, we had it in three different ways.

Devin craziness #1 – This guy is like Amy Baking’s Company from “Kitchen Nightmares,” who refused to listen to anything sensible ever said to him. Caleb questioned him, and he huffed and puffed about it.

Devin craziness #2 – Him saying that he had Paola throw the Battle of the Block, then him telling Brittany, the person she threw the competition to get rid of, later on when he made a deal with her to stay. Basically, Paola may have thrown the competition so that she could go home.

Devin craziness #3 – Him saying that he never considered putting up Zach before that conversation with him, which strictly isn’t true. He almost thinks that nobody can see the tape from the live feeds.

This episode did a good job of painting Devin as one of the most out-there players ever, and it also established Zach almost like he was weak strategically rather than a mastermind. Not entirely true. It also gave Frankie an angelic edit as he did a lot more throwing Zach under the bus than they showed on TV. It’s like the show wants to spare him and even Caleb involvement in this in the event that they need to have “strong players” per the edit later.

We know that we’re skimming over the Veto, Hayden trying to kiss Nicole, and even Team America, which we can choose a task for. (Personally, we’re hoping that they try to start a rumor that someone in the house is related to a past contestant, especially if they pick some really random contestant like a member of the Nerd Herd.) But, the highlight of this entire hour to us going in was the Veto Meeting. We’d heard about it all week, and therefore expected some big things.

But … we didn’t see any of it other than Zach getting put up as the replacement nominee. What gives? Probably the biggest letdown of the season so far, given that this episode had spotty editing, and they are forcing us to wait until tomorrow night for the main event. Grade: C-.
