‘Girl Meets World’ episode 2 preview: A library visit and a lesson

Girl -What’s with the schedule for “Girl Meets World“? As much as we feel like the Disney Channel has a hit on their hands with this show, we wonder if they did both the timing of their new series launch. After making the pilot episode available for around a month or so, the premiere aired last week at the unusual time of just after 9:30 p.m. Eastern.

Now, there is no new episode airing on Friday night, with the obvious reason for that being that it is Independence Day and most youngsters will be out with their parents watching fireworks. That is a two-week layoff for a new show, and younger kids with short-attention spans need a good schedule more than anyone. This means that trying to make viewers check out “Girl Meets Boy” airing next Friday could be a little trickier than you would first think.

For one, the show is moving forward an hour to 8:30 p.m., and they’ll have to be aware of that. Then, it comes down to if they can find the time in the midst of everything else to tune in.

The one thing that we will say beyond the shadow of a doubt right now, though, is that this next episode feels like plenty of fun, and a “Boy Meets World” episode catered perfectly to a new generation with smartphones and the internet. Cory sends the class to do an assignment at the library, and without the help of anything other than books. Yeah, the creepy librarian is a little stereotypical, but we feel there is a lesson here about disconnecting and embracing the past that everyone can get a little something out of. We see this every time you go to a concert and there are people watching the entire thing through the lens of a phone.
