‘American Idol’ season 14: Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban officially returning

The news -Even though you could argue that “American Idol” really need to change the judges after the lowest ratings of the entire series, we actually don’t believe that the numbers were the fault of Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr., and Jennifer Lopez. These three were for the most part pretty good, and while there were way too many camera pans at J.Lo during the performances, that wasn’t entirely her fault. (At least we think that’s the case.)

So to hear that they are all coming back for another season officially? We’re not that upset about it. The bigger problem with season 13 was the talent pool was lacking, and while there were some good singers, there was not a single person you looked at and thought immediately that they would be a star someday. There are only so many of these people that can still be found out there! This is why we’ve campaigned for all singing shows to go away for a few years, and then return when there is a little bit more room for them to show off more talent.

In a statement, David Hill (the senior executive vice-president at 21st Century Fox responsible for running the show) said the following about bringing the gang back:

“Jennifer, Keith, Harry and Ryan are the very best in the business at what they do, and I’m thrilled that they are returning to American Idol for another season … Each brings unique qualities and expertise to the team, but they all share the same passion for helping undiscovered singers achieve the American dream.”

Let’s hope that the show does a little more with the talent on season 14 than we have seen so far. Otherwise, there is almost no reason for us to even bother.
