‘Suits’ season 4, episode 2 review: Hearts get in the way in ‘Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner’

SuitsSuits” wasted very little time getting complicated with Wednesday night’s “Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner,” in particular when it comes to raising one key question: Are relationships getting in the way of how people at this firm are choosing to work?

When it comes to Mike Ross, it certainly is starting to feel like he is struggling when it comes to his decision-making. His insistence to “protect” Walter Gillis led to him refusing a deal from Logan Sanders, though it seemed very much that his past relationship with Rachel is involved.

Mike went to Walter and pressed him to open the pension, mostly because that could pave the way for everything that he wanted to do moving forward. The more we saw of his moves here, the more it was clear that Mike was being very, very deliberate. Tensions between he and Harvey are getting worse by the day, and sooner or later, this is going to explode. We’re also definitely worried about how big of a strain this is getting to be between Mike and Rachel, given that he is basically creating more work for her by being good at his new job.

On the Louis Litt front, there was some big victory in that he finally got himself a new office. Not only that, but Jessica took it away from her new man-friend / colleague Jeff in the process. Think that’ll be awkward? We have to believe so. We are loving this storyline so far, mostly because it actually gives her something in her personal life.

“Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner” was more of a progression episode than one with anything shocking, unless you just loved seeing Mike throw some paper around. At least the stakes are more set than ever for a big showdown moving forward. Grade: B.
