‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7: Does Maggie Siff want to know spoilers?
Maggie Siff spent the better part of six years playing Tara brilliantly on “Sons of Anarchy,” but for the seventh and final season, it appears as though she is a little more interested in just enjoying it as a fan.
Like many other nominees, Siff (who really is deserving of a nod for this past season) is making the interview rounds right now to talk about her performance and some key moments within it. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she also had an interesting response when asked if she had any plans to read scripts on the rest of the story:
“No, no, no, no, no. I have a vague understanding — [creator Kurt Sutter] and I had talked about what was happening, and he sort of told me some ideas he had about what this season would look like. But I don’t want to read scripts. I want to see it with everybody else. I’m excited. It’s going to be weird and kind of great to just watch it on television.”
For us, it is going to be weird watching the show and not having her be a part of it. The feud between her and Gemma was so layered and interesting, and there is the obvious part of us that wants to say that in her dying, Gemma won. But is that really the case? Given the horrible things that have happened in the greater Charming era the past several seasons, death may have been a terrible release from what awaited Tara had she survived that fork attack. Anytime she tried to get herself and her family away from the monsters within, something found a way to suck her back in and create further madness and destruction. Tara’s entire life became the Shakespearean tragedy that is this show.
In this final season, Jax Teller and company are going to have to look their legacy in the eye, and wonder if there is any way this story can end for them that does not end in death. We’re excited to find out, as the new season will premiere on FX this September.
