ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7: Nathan Fillion jokes about character’s future at convention
For Nathan Fillion fans, one of the good things about the filming hiatus for “Castle” is that it allows for the opportunity for him to hit the convention circuit, and he’s also very generous with his time. His appearance in Dallas this past weekend is not the first convention that he’s done in the past several months, and nor will it be his last.
While the majority of the chat (which you can find some assorted clips of online, if you do some pretty shrewd searching) is geared around “Firefly” and “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog,” he did start off the Q&A session by making a joke about his character’s fate when asked if Castle and Beckett are ever going to get married:
“I don’t know how it’s going to work out after the untimely death of ‘Castle’ in season 6 … I know that Molly Quinn is constantly pushing for a ‘Castle’ spin-off. We’re calling it ‘Castle: Legacy.'”
Fillion also talked a little later in the chat about “The Final Frontier,” a great episode of “Castle” that was set at one of these sort of conventions; also, he hinted that their recent season 7 renewal was a foregone conclusion once they were seeing the ratings near the end of the season.
Overall, we highly recommend going to one of these sessions so long as you’re in the right place at the right time, and you also have no problem with crowds and/or having to wait a long time to get a somewhat-decent seat. Fillion actually admitted in this interview that he is really a pretty shy person, and that sometimes he becomes anxious when dealing with large groups of people. That is often why he tries to instead play a self-described “vain” character in some interviews rather than show off a more personal side of himself.
