‘American Idol XIII’: Alex Preston’s potential winners’ single and the Phillip Phillips connection

Alex Preston -There are many reasons to be sad right now about the fact that Alex Preston is not in the “American Idol XIII” finale, with one of the biggest ones being simply that he brought so much creativity to the show and to what he does. He reminded us in a way of past contestants like Kris Allen and Phillip Phillips, and it only makes sense now that there is an additional connection between him and the season 11 champion.

In a conference call with reporters on Friday, Alex revealed that none other than Drew Pearson, who was one of the diving forces behind the song “Home,” was one of the writers on his own potential winners’ single entitled “I Love This Feeling.” It is not entirely clear if Alex’s recording will ever see the light of day, but he is really proud of it and hopes that it comes out at some point.

When we think about Pearson’s work, and also the fact that “Home” was the best winners’ single in the history of the show by a wide margin, the question has to be asked: How badly did the show screw up by not having him in the finale? Granted, it’s more of the fans fault given that they are the ones who didn’t put him there … but we don’t always feel like the judges were fair to him just because he cannot belt out in the same way as some of the other contestants.

Hopefully, this will be a single that the show releases in the way that they did Angie Miller’s “You Set Me Free” after that season came to a close … and we’ll just have to wait and see in the week ahead.

For now, though, we will continue to be said over Alex’s elimination for a while … especially since we had ranked him #1 pretty much since the start of the live rounds.
