‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 finale spoilers: Hook and Emma journey through time
Are you watching the finale for “Once Upon a Time” on Sunday night, or an episode of “Doctor Who”? With all of the time travel going on, you may start to think that it is the latter more so than the former.
The official synopsis released by ABC today for the last episode of season 3 actually gives away a good bit more than the official promo that aired after the episode did. Through this, we know now for sure that Mary Margaret and David are going to name their child, and it will be none other than Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) who are forced into going back in time as a result of the spell Zelena cast:
“While Mary Margaret and David celebrate the naming of their son at a coronation in Granny’s Diner, Emma and Hook are pulled into Zelena’s time portal and find themselves in the Enchanted Forest of the past. But in their quest to discover a way back, they must be careful not to change ANYTHING or risk altering the lives of their friends and family — as well as their very own existence.”
If “Once Upon a Time” manages to make its entire fourth season about time travel, then Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis will have managed to officially make this leap a full season earlier than they did while on “Lost.” Let’s hope that this is not going in a time-travel-only direction. It’s great for a couple of episodes, but not for an 11-episode arc that comprises half of the season.
There is still one glorious mystery that remains here, and that is how far the two characters really are in the past.Is it really the time that Zelena hoped it would be, or did her supposed death alter things at all? We’ll have a watch for that.
