‘The X Factor’ winners Alex & Sierra announce ‘Scarecrow’ as first single
You’ve been waiting for months for some of the first real news about Alex & Sierra following their time on “The X Factor” this past fall, and we are here to deliver it to you now: The name of their first single! In a post on Instagram with musical accompaniment (which you can see below), the duo revealed that the song will be entitled “Scarecrow.”
Just based on the title alone, we feel like the track has potential. It’s not the expected name for a young pair of singer-songwriters, and it is not a name that screams “obvious part of the Syco family.” This isn’t meant to be a slam on Simon Cowell, but rather recognition that most of the acts under his label are somewhat easy to predict. If the accompaniment in the video is of the actual song, then we have something to be excited about. The guitar part here is lovely, even if the video is short.
Just in case that was not enough to get you excited, the pair also revealed in another Instagram image that they are in the process of shooting their first music video. Given that the setting looks like a field, it’s pretty easy to guess that this is probably a “Scarecrow” video. Bonus points if there are an army of scarecrows that at some point come out and start dancing around the area.
The nice thing that we have noticed about Alex & Sierra so far is that even though they’ve been able to get music out fairly quickly, it never felt like they were pushed in every direction or stressed to the limit in order to do so. The fear with quick turnarounds is that you’re left with music that feels rushed, and we haven’t been given a reason to be afraid of that.
We’ll hopefully have some more news to share on Alex & Sierra soon along with some other “X Factor” finalists, but be sure to click here if you want to sign up, and get some more news worth singing about via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
