NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 7: Gwen Stefani to officially fill in for Christina Aguilera
On the same night and at around the same time that “The Voice” aired its top 10 results show, it was revealed that there was a formal decision made when it comes to who will be the latest coach on the panel.
With Christina Aguilera taking time off thanks to her pregnancy, it was officially unveiled that Gwen Stefani of No Doubt would be coming on board as a coach for season 7. Pharrell Williams will also be a new coach, and presumably, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will both return. It has not been confirmed that either part is returning, but most quotes and suggestions right now make it seem like there is a negotiation going on for the two.
Do we think that Gwen will do a good job? She at least is creative and energetic, and she is a name that will bring in viewers. More than anything, though, we like seeing how a new coach operates while in the spinning chairs. This is what made this show a joy to watch in the first place, and this is also why we occasionally like watching the international versions of the show, just to see how some different coaches end up handling this.
The new season of “The Voice” will most-likely premiere in September, and hopefully the new coaches will bring some new energy and ratings to the show after it has lost some of its steam this spring. (This is, to be fair, common for most singing shows.)

Update: Blake and Adam have now been confirmed for season 7, while Christina Aguilera will be back for season 8.
