‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Is Naya Rivera done with show? A look inside the rumor
Everyone in the media loves a good “Glee” rumor, and there have been plenty of those spreading ever since the first reports broke of an on-set dispute between Lea Michele and her co-star Naya Rivera. There are a variety of claims about whether or not that actually happened, and we are still here banking on it being blown way out of proportion.
Still, there are many other strange wrinkles with this story still when it comes to Naya. First of all, she was gone randomly for a the episodes leading up to “Opening Night,” has not been seen on set as much as the other actors, and now there are claims that she has been fired. The popular fansite Gleek Out Brasil was one of the first to report it, and they use what is probably the proper terminology in saying that she was written out of the season finale, and will not be appearing. This doesn’t necessarily mean that she has been fired, but her future doesn’t look great given that you think they would have wanted Naya for an episode also featuring Heather Morris. Several outlets have since picked up this story with additional confirmation that Naya will not be in the last episode.
It’s far too simple to blame this on an on-set incident, and there is probably much more going on here than many are aware of. It may just have something to do in part with a desire for all parties to move on. The one part of this rumor that makes a little less sense than others is Naya herself recently tweeting out something from the show’s official account. So if she is actually leaving the show, there doesn’t seem to be any ill will on her part.
We’ll have some more news and updates on this subject as it becomes available, but for the time being, this is certainly one of the most note-worthy stories out there regarding the show’s future.
