‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: What could be on the table for (possible) season 7
The CBS upfront presentation is coming up now in weeks, and we’re still sitting around waiting to find out some big pieces of information when it comes to “The Mentalist.”
Clearly, the fact that the show wasn’t picked up with the majority of everything else doesn’t look good. But there is still hope, just like there is still hope that another network could pick it up in the event that it doesn’t make it on TV for another year.
So what could be on the table in the event that the show does return? Think along the lines of possibly getting some more information about Jane and Lisbon during their two years apart. Speaking on the subject of whether or not these two will communicate more about what they did while apart in the episodes ahead, executive producer Tom Szentgyorgyi had the following to say in a TVLine interview:
“I mean, there might be a line [somewhere later this season], but it’s not a major topic of conversation … That’s not to say it’s not something we wouldn’t return to next year, if we have one.”
So there’s something to possibly look forward to, in addition to the inevitable new cases that would pop up in the event that the show is brought back for more. We do think that there is a loyal following there (especially when you consider the fact that these people watch despite numerous sporting event delays), but you cannot renew a show based on hopes and speculation from what the show could do if it were airing at a place other than Sunday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern.
We will have more on the show’s future as it comes out, but for now, feel free to share your predictions below, and click here for a look at what lies ahead on “The Mentalist.” You can also sign up for more TV updates over at our newsletter page.

I highly doubt that Jane and Lisbon would talk about what they did during their two years apart. I mean if they haven’t brought back the subject of Jane saying ‘love you’ to Lisbon and then seemingly lying about remembering saying it, I mean I have a hard time believing that he didn’t remember saying it and the he just said it in the moment, then I see no reason why they would bring up what they did in the two years they were apart. Also I don’t see why they would bring it up what they did in the two years apart anyway, I mean it looks like Lisbon and Pike are going to be getting together, so there would be no reason for them to talk about what they did in the two years apart and if it was so important that they know what the other did, they surly would have worked into the back half of season six.
As for a season seven, I have no clue if there will be one, but even if there were a season seven I don’t think I would watch it. It has nothing to do with the likelyhood that Jane and Lisbon aren’t going to get together (I made my peace with that long ago, I just wish they hadn’t strung fans along with hope that it could) but because overall there seems to me to be something missing from the show.
Also the title of the finale screams to be that Lisbon is going to say yes to Pikes propsal.
