ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 finale: Jimmy Kimmel unveils name, video of interview special
ABC loves “Scandal,” and even more so than this, they love the ratings and social traffic that “Scandal” garners. Despite it being at first a midseason series with very little expectations, it has become their highest-rated drama, and their most-important series right up there with “Modern Family.”
So as we’ve reported before, it shouldn’t come as a shock to really anyone that the show is going to have a “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” special airing after the last episode of the series ends on Thursday night. The first promo released by ABC of it below even goes so far as to give it a name: “Behind the Scandalabra.” It’s clever, and also silly in the same exact way that you would expect. This special (per the TV Guide-released promo below) will feature an exclusive sit-down with show creator Shonda Rhimes at the set of the show, which looks to be entertaining given Jimmy’s hopes to get his B613 on with Shonda if she doesn’t give up the goods.
Do we still wonder if all this “Scandal” coverage is something that ABC forces Jimmy to do because the show is so successful? Sure, but all talk show hosts do have to do this sort of thing from time to time. This is why Jay Leno speaks with so many people from “The Voice,” or why David Letterman interviewed Josh Charles recently after his character was (spoiler alert!) killed off on “The Good Wife.” This isn’t really that much different except that Kimmel is devoting an entire night to it rather than just a few assorted minutes.
We’re interested in watching this play out, mostly because we are interested in seeing how in the world Kimmel plans on stretching out so much “Scandal”-related content for this long.
