‘The Bachelorette’: Andi Dorfman’s poster tries to bash Juan Pablo Galavis
We’ve seen “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” use some unusual means in the past in order to promote their new seasons, but trying to bash the former star in the poster? That’s a new one. Juan Pablo Galavis may have come across as a tool on most of last season, but why remind people that he exists?
The attached poster for the upcoming “The Bachelorette” season with Andi Dorfman advertises that she is looking for the right Juan one, and also shows an image that is such a close-up that it takes a minute or two to really figure out who it is. Why not accentuate who Andi really is, rather than remind us of how badly things ended with her and Juan Pablo? If we were in the marketing department for ABC at the time that this poster was made, our intention would have been to emphasize the fact that Andi is a prosecutor, or that she’s a southern girl from Georgia who has a tight-knit family.
We’ll see how this whole “woman scorned” persona works when the show actually premieres next month, but we don’t think it’s what the show wants to do. As a matter of fact, it makes Andi come across as bitter, when she probably had nothing to do with creating this ad campaign at all.
In the end, it is probably mostly about ratings above all else. While America may have grown to hate Juan Pablo, he brought in great numbers. Why not try to capitalize on that for a new season?
