‘The Tomorrow People’ episode 19 review: Surprises galore with Hillary, Stephen’s dad

The Tomorrow People -Monday night’s new episode of “The Tomorrow People” was truly a case of mixing the good with the bad. There were some surprises, for example, that we can fully get behind and endorse. However, there were also some other surprises that we want to boo off the stage as soon as possible.

Of course, with this one we’re talking about Hillary obviously working for The Founder and continuing to do everything she can to play Stephen. Isn’t this Page #1 in Complicated Love Interest Cliches? It’s even higher than them getting called away for a job that forces them to be written out of the show. You knew things were dodgy when she did the whole trenchcoat-and-underwear bit. Seriously, we just want the Hillary story to move along now since it’s no longer interesting, and this took away all the complexity of it.

Meanwhile, having Stephen’s father being brought back into the world has far more potential to it, and having the mother of Robbie Amell’s character be the one responsible for saving him was a nice touch. Finally, she gets something big to do in the story! It’s been a while, since as of late she has felt a little more like an afterthought to everything else going on.

If only this fully made us forget about the Hillary reveal … or the fact that Stephen is somehow a player with three different women all into him, and he’s somehow likable when it comes to how he handles it. The guy needs to be a little more transparent and a little less wishy-washy. We get that he’s supposed to be young, but we’re starting not to really like him that much as a main character. We’d almost prefer a spin-off starring Russell and his crazy behavior. Grade: C-.
