‘Saturday Night Live’: Andrew Garfield to host, Coldplay to perform on May 3 show
“Saturday Night Live” likes to air their new episodes in batches in order to allow people to have a break here and there. We approximate the amount of sleep that some of these people get during the season at around “nil.”
So after Seth Rogen’s new episode this weekend, it was time for a break. Who is the host for the next new broadcast? It’s none other than Spider-Man himself! Andrew Garfield will be hosting the show’s May 3 broadcast, and will be joined by Coldplay as a musical guest.
When it comes to hosting, this is the first time that Garfield has taken on the honor for the show. However, it is not the first time in which he has appeared; he previously made a cameo on a show hosted by Emma Stone a few years ago. The irony here is that on the show that was previously hosted by Stone, Coldplay was a musical guest then, too. Granted, Chris Martin did not have nearly as many headlines out there about his personal life as he does now.
Could this be a good show? Sure, given that we know that Garfield is not afraid to let his inner geek flag fly, and he has done some great work on selected movies over the years. (See “The Social Network.”) With this being said, it is still a risk anytime someone wants to hit the daunting “SNL” stage for the first time when they are not specifically known for comedy, especially with a cast that is in a rebuilding stage. Doyou wonder why there have been fewer athletes this year?
