‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10 spoilers: Departing ‘Scandal’ actress signs on
Shonda Rhimes is an executive producer who loves to bring over actors from one of her shows to another, but typically, you see a little bit more of a break between appearances than what we are writing about here.
According to TVLine, Kelly McCreary, mere days after seeing the end of her storyline as Clare on “Scandal,” has signed on to “Grey’s Anatomy” in what we like to call a “reverse Scott Foley move.” As for who she is going to play … good luck getting someone to spill the beans on this. All we can say for sure is that she will have some sort of “flirty bar date” (per the website) with a male doctor in the cast.
While it may be easy to assume based on the timing here that McCreary is not going to be a part of the show until near the end of the season, some of the “Scandal” casting announcements (see Nazanin Boniadi recently) prove that Rhimes has found a way to keep some of her major castings under wraps until very close to when their characters actually appear. Then again, there are also exceptions to this … ABC and Rhimes confirmed Isaiah Washington’s return long before he even filmed.
We’re just interested now to find up who this character will be flirting with, given that Derek, Jackson, Richard (who’s a little old anyway), and Alex are in relationships / marriages, whereas the situations for Shane and Owen are a little bit more nebulous. Let’s hope that there isn’t another cheating scandal in the cards, and if Gaius Charles is really leaving the show (sad face), maybe this is a way to help set up a conclusion for his character.
