‘How I Met Your Mother’ series finale video: A look into Marshall and Lily’s future

As we have said as of late, the “How I Met Your Mother” series finale Monday is going to be a show that really is all about time. It has been nine years in the making, and the story itself will take you through what the next 17 years of life are going to be like for Ted Mosby and his friends. In the end, the theme that we also feel like we are really getting close to is “enjoy everything in life in the time that you have.” (No, this is not meant to be taken as evidence that The Mother is going to die. Nobody knows that except those who filmed the episode.)

In the sneak peek video below, what you get a chance to see are the ramifications of Marshall and Lily’s time in Italy. Alyson Hannigan’s character did get an opportunity to live out her dream working for the Captain, but Jason Segel’s had to take a backseat. At the time of the video, he is working more in corporate law again … which we know that he does not exactly care for.

The reason that this is not something to frown about is because thanks to some other flash-forwards that we have seen, we know that he does eventually end up in a better place (even if he does also lose some of that hair on his head). While there may be hardships ahead for both him and everyone else, it does feel like what we are really going to get in time are wonderful memories that all of these people will cherish for the rest of their lives.
