‘The Bachelor’: Would Andi Dorfman, Sharleen Joynt make the best ‘Bachelorette’?
Typically, the only rankings that we do when it comes to “The Bachelor” are ones that allow us to gauge how each woman is doing as a part of the show; however, around this point every year, we do like to start to mix it up a little bit and play a different game, one where we try to figure out just who is going to be the best candidate to be the “Bachelorette.”
It’s almost a given at this point that ABC will select someone from this current season, especially since there is no Emily Maynard out there now who is popular from a past season. It also feels like they’ll want someone with a good bit of screen time as opposed to what Juan Pablo Galavis got, and also someone who is well-liked and they can tell a compelling story around. Really, we don’t feel like this choice is really going to be all that difficult.
Still, we’ve ranked below who we feel are the top contenders at the moment for the gig.
4. Chelsie Webster – Definitely a long shot, given that she didn’t have much screen time; however, she does seem very likable, has a job as an educator that most people like, and hasn’t done anything controversial; but, would she almost be too nice?
3. Renee Oteri – Obviously interested in finding love, and she has her own story like Juan Pablo’s in that she wants to have another shot at finding the perfect person as a single parent. The problem? We don’t see ABC casting two straight parents to star in the show.
2. Sharleen Joynt – Some people would hate it, but we’d find it to be very entertaining since she was such a different contestant than we are accustomed to seeing. The reason ABC probably wouldn’t do it is because they want a certain element of predictability to their shows, and we don’t think Sharleen would embrace that.
1. Andi Dorfman – It almost feels obvious that Andi is getting the gig this time around. Out of the top six, she has that perfect combination: She’s likable, she’s different than what we’ve seen this season, she has an interesting career, and she has gotten screen time. Also, it doesn’t feel like she will be devastated if things don’t work out with Juan Pablo … and the previews don’t make it look like they will.

To begin with, I don’t think Sharleen would do it. In fact, I believe she will look back on this experience with a certain embarrassment that she even did it. But in any event, I have two reasons for thinking she would not make a good Bachelorette: (1) She is too emotionally cautious and reserved. I don’t think she could pick out a “Favorite Man” within the allotted time frame. (2) The social demands of her profession have made her a bit of a snob with very high standards where men are concerned. Indeed, the typical male contestant … like Juan Pablo … could never meet her standards.

Sharleen would do it but she will be under pressure from her family to pick a man that will meet their standards, even if she doesn’t like them, not the All-American type, White and Black, nor Middle Eastern. It’s either she picks Asians, Latinos, or Native Americans/Canadians. Andi Dorfman, nope. We’ve had too many White Bachelorette leads already. I don’t think she has any minority ancestry whatsoever. She’s just plain White. Sharleen would solve the diversity problem since she’s Asian mixed with White and Aboriginal. And yes, Asian women are very cautious and reserved and their families have very high standards in the men they date which means they will want anyone Asian or similar because of their culture.
