ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: The most depressing episode title ever?
“Scandal” is hardly a show that likes to shy away from dark things and depressing storylines; as a matter of fact, sometimes it tends to run towards them with open arms.
Thanks to this, can you really be shocked that there is an episode coming up (the thirteenth of the season) entitled “No Sun on the Horizon”? If we were to say that we are shocked by this, we’d be saying it with a distinctly fake expression on our face. This is precisely the sort of title (which was first confirmed today by SpoilerTV) that we would expect for this show, all things considered.
So what sort of little hints or storylines could this title be pointing to? One of the easiest possibilities to consider is that maybe this is all about the continued crumbling of one Sally Langston, who has hardly shown herself to be particularly stable over the past couple of episodes. (Murdering someone pretty much keeps you off the sane list for the rest of your life.) Also, you have Olivia and Fitz being unable to really be with each other in any way that does not produce the word in the title, Cyrus and James’ relationship, anything that is going on with Huck, or of course the arrival of Olivia’s mother back in Washington DC. All of these suggest that there are some dark times ahead.
In the end, though, it’s still hard to really gauge every aspect of what could be important here without seeing “Ride, Sally, Ride,” which is the first episode of 2014 airing on Thursday, February 27. We’ve got some more discussion of that here, and some of our early impressions of it here are that we are going to see the Vice-President continuing to press forward despite the new obstacles put before her.
