NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5, episode 6 review: Did Nathan Fillion make up for no Donald Glover?
For the first time Thursday night, “Community” had the challenge of trying to deal with life after Donald Glover’s Troy; so to help with that, the show brought in a massive chorus of guest stars. The likes of Katie Leclerc, Nathan Fillion, Paget Brewster, Brie Larson, and more all appeared as we had a half-hour that showed us the underbelly of Greendale.
Overall, we would say that the show did about as well as they could have. There were some very funny moments, and we ended with what be the most insane Annie Eddison moment ever as she tried to engage in complete janitorial warfare. She and Hickey teamed up to try to solve a great bulletin board crisis at Greendale, and it required having to do favors from helping out Fillion’s head janitor watch blocked internet content (use your imagination) to helping Brewster’s IT tech support employee get a better parking spot. Even with all this, the two barely got what they wanted.
The other major stories revolving Chang starting up a school dance with Jeff, Duncan, and Shirley, and also Britta coming up with a long con to spoil a “Game of Thrones”-like series for Abed were both fun. Were they revolutionary? Hardly, and that is probably the best example of Dan Harmon setting the bar so high. The show has been so amazing, that a great episode versus some amazing ones still stood out.
Plus, it was clear that the show is going to take some time to find its footing again with Donald in the cast. We not only missed him, but spent most of the time wondering why Troy had seemingly been gone for a long time in the eyes of the characters. We understand that you don’t want to dwell, but still. Grade: B.

I loved it, especially the crawl on the bottom of the screen while Hickey watched the news report about the bear attack.
Also… I hope all the guest stars in last night’s show return often. They were great! (Especially Robert Patrick.) And it was good to see Brie Larson’s return. All that will go a long way to healing the wound of the losing of both Troy and Pierce.

It can’t “fill his void” aka Mrs Chang reappearing at Season 1, but it was a lot of fun. I think its kind of like Ted’s hole in the hand – you can’t miss the absence, but it hurts a lot when you mention it nonetheless!
