‘American Idol XIII’ video: Alex Preston auditions with original song!
“American Idol” is airing another round of auditions starting tomorrow night, and for our first focus on them now, we turn to a guy in Alex Preston who, based on this audition alone, has the potential to go a long way.
We’re not going to even sit here and be all like “will he make it through?”, since it’s pretty obvious to everyone who has watched this show ever that he’s going to get a chance to be around for a while. Instead, the question that we are more curious in is if this 20-year old student from New Hampshire actually has what it takes to make the live shows. Right now, we’re voting “yes.” He’s a guy who plays the guitar, can do things beyond sing your average song, and he has a voice that doesn’t sound like anyone else. All of this certainly did Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, David Cook, and Phillip Phillips well on the show.
While we don’t want to be one of those people (*cough* Randy Jackson) to say that “this is the year” for any sort of contestant in particular on the show, we do feel like the guys are poised for a big comeback. After last year’s terrible outing that felt almost like the producers’ desperation to have a female winner, the voters for the men could be out there in full force.
What’s your take on this performance: Do you love it, or think that he’s going to be in the competition for a long run? Share your initial thoughts below, and we’ll have more on Alex and some of the other hopefuls throughout the week. You can hit up the link here to read our review of the most-recent episode.
