‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ season 6, episode 13 review: How much violence is too much?
This has been an interesting season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” as the people who are normally at the forefront of the drama (we are looking at you Kenya and NeNe) have been much more of background players and the likes of Porsha, Cynthia and Kandi have really taken center stage this season. So will we be seeing more of Kenya and NeNe tonight?
Dylan the birthday Boy!: Phaedra’s son is turning one and she is not holding back when it comes to his party. Because she calls him “Mr. President” she wants the party to have a presidential theme including “secret service”, Red White and Blue everything and an event space that looks like a parliament building. This party was so much fun and it felt like we were there with everyone.
Kenya’s baby: She is still on the road to becoming a mother and is investigating her options through a doctor. She learns some bad news revealing that she is going to have some challenges getting pregnant. She looks at the options of getting a donor and the process is pretty eye opening for her, but now she’s armed with information and we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
The pajama party from hell: NeNe is throwing a “pillow talk” party and everyone is coming (including the husbands). NeNe decides to invite Natalie and Chris (the woman that said Todd was an opportunist and Kenya fought with over the idea that Chris once said that Natalie wasn’t actually his wife) so we expect things to go badly (and boy did they ever go badly). The party started out okay, but when Kenya showed up late from picking her friend Brandon up at the airport NeNe let her have it in front of everyone, bringing the tension up to a 10. We thought that might be the end of the drama, but when questions start up about strip clubs things get ugly. Apollo admits to dropping $8000 in strip clubs and we are wondering why in the world anyone would want to waste that kind of money on that when they have a gorgeous wife at home? Also, how many lap dances does one man need that he’s going to spend $8000?
Things go from bad to worse when Chris decides to “confront” Kenya about saying that he used to call Natalie is “common law wife” while they were on the road together. When Kenya doesn’t back down and charges Chris, he touches her in a way that looked aggressive and Kenya’s friend Brandon jumps up and starts a physical fight with him, leading to many of the husbands jumping in to break it up, but not before Apollo starts beating Brandon while he’s on the ground. Why is Apollo beating on Brandon? We really aren’t sure.
What was interesting was that NeNe blamed Kenya for the fight breaking out by getting out of her seat, but as Kenya said there’s never a reason to touch a woman. This was a very difficult episode to watch and seeing that kind of violence really made re-evaluate watching this show. This is never the type of drama we like to see on any “Real Housewives” episodes and are still a little bit shaken from what we just watched. Grade: F
