‘Homeland’ season 4 spoilers: Will Mandy Patinkin return despite Saul’s move?
There is one thing that we knew for certain the moment that “Homeland” season 4 came to a close, and that was (MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT) that we are no longer going to be seeing any more of Nicholas Brody. Damian Lewis’ character died a good two-thirds into the season 3 finale, and there’s no way that he is suddenly going to come back… this isn’t “Walking Dead” after all.
But what about the rest of the characters? Show boss Alex Gansa tells TVLine that even though Morgan Saylor and Morena Baccarin are no long series regulars, you may not have seen the last of them yet. He did confirm, though, that Mandy Patinkin will be back, and there is so much more story to come from the Saul Berenson character even though he is no longer directly affiliated with the CIA:
“It definitely includes Mandy Patinkin. That I can tell you. And the rationale is, [Saul] is now a private contractor, and the CIA does outsource so much intelligence work to these private contractors. So even though Saul may not have a desk at Langley anymore, his interface with the agency is going to be big.”
For the first time in years, “Homeland” is going to be completely rebooting itself in season 4 by seemingly showing Carrie Mathison in Istanbul, where she will bring in a variety of faces to work on her team. Personally, we would not be surprised at all to see Quinn, Fara, or Saul turn up as a part of that as she works to solve some new international crises in Turkey. The setup for the finale, though, did help to confirm that this really is Claire Danes’ show more than anyone else’s, and the show will move forward by trying to figure out the best way to continue telling her story in a post-Brody world.
