‘The Blacklist’ spoilers: What happens next to Ressler?

“The Blacklist” was a show that was pretty universally praised throughout most of its first ten episodes. However, if there was one problem that did at times plague the story, it is that the show often chose to overshadow most of the folks at the FBI with stories strictly about Tom, Liz, or Reddington. For most of the run, it felt like these were just the same cookie-cutter people that we saw working at many other places of law enforcement on other shows.

But, some of this started to change courtesy of what happened to Ressler in the midseason finale. We started to see a few more layers to the guy, including where he came from, what some of his personal priorities were, and a woman that he was once in love with. And despite some of the injuries that he suffered thanks to Anslo, he is not going to be disappearing from the show in any capacity. Just take a look at what executive producer Jon Bokenkamp had to say in a TVLine interview:

“Agent Ressler isn’t going anywhere … That said, the injuries he’s sustained and the revelations made about his character in the fall cliffhanger will certainly impact the show going forward.”

Hopefully, these injuries are going to in turn lead to more opportunities to actually learn something more about the guy, save for of course that he is pretty darn good at his job. Also Diego Klattenhoff just has a habit of playing heroic guys, doesn’t he? First he took on Mike on “Homeland,” and now he has this new character that is starting to become more and more complex.
