‘NCIS’ season 11, episode 10 review: Bishop’s second episode; the return of Diane
For whatever reason, Tuesday night’s “NCIS” was not exactly the most heavily-promoted one that we have ever seen. But after we watched it, we have a little better of an understanding why.
Ellie Bishop’s second episode of the story was something that was by and large forgettable, mostly because it was a murder-turned-kidnapping case that brought a couple of twists. The only real benefit was the opportunity to see Diane again, Gibbs’ ex-wife who has had so many different relationships within the world of this show, you would think that she was actually the star of “The Bachelorette.” There was a nice moment between her and Gibbs at the end of the episode, though it didn’t really help us to understand why Mark Harmon’s character ever married her in the first place.
In going back to Bishop, though, we feel like Emily Wickersham is doing a great job of playing the character, but the only problem that comes along with her being a new face is that the producers are inclined to show a lot of her. The balance is going to understandably be a little shaky in that time frame, since you have to see how she responds to everyone else and assimilates herself into the group. We cannot full sit here with a straight face and say that we loved her entire story this week, but that is because a few of the scenes just felt somewhat repetitive.
We can’t give a full endorsement to this episode as a whole, mostly because it feels like one of those episodes where we were missing something. What happened to Abby in most of this? Anyway, it was an okay hour of TV that felt like it still could have done more to shine. Grade: C+.

people are being so harsh. it’s still NCIS. It is till the chemistry we love. Yes it is new, but we did that with Cote and that took a while. People may not get that if they were not big fans from day 1. It was rough there for a bit. Took a couple of seasons. It is still all he people we love and I do NOT think the writing is bad now, that is nts. It was a super funny show, yes we have no idea why Gibbs married her, but Marines can do stupid stuff, trust me on this.

From what I am seeing here and from other social media comments, NCIS is no longer the great show it used to be. What changed this season? Could it be cast changes, like losing a beloved character? hmmm.

I think you might have something there !!! Why make this cast change with a 10 year old show ? CBS made a bad mistake !!! I so miss the old FUN NCIS ………………………

The world start to understand how wrong CBS is beside the known haters. I love this show, I want to see NCIS the old way, the great success and with Cote de Pablo, not this soap opera. Even I’m not a friend of MH, but this he don’t deserved.

Tony’s getting fat, McGee’s getting bald. Why too-young-to-be-wonder-women as female team members?

This episode was so bad, I turned it off around half way through. Bishop is a joke and it appears that the only reason she is on the show is because she has a friend in high places. Everything was wrong in this show–scripting, writing, camera shots. It appears that she is not liked in front of and behind the scenes. Still think she will be gone in three.

I do agree with you Zack. Unfortunately, I do not think you have heard the latest comments by Mark Harmon. He said she is there FOR GOOD (MORE FOR BAD) and had her name painted in her parking spot the moment they met her!! l think there has been a lot of whispering in someones ear that Ziva was NOT as loved as she is. No use for Bishop thanks.

Can you say ” Jumped the Shark”? Bishop is a horrible addition- the older cast fawns on her as if she has earned such respect over years. And she hasn’t! One more show like this and our Tuesday night is free for Netflix.
