‘Masters of Sex’ episode 11 preview: Ethan plans on proposing … again

Stop us when this one sounds familiar: On Sunday night’s new “Masters of Sex” episode, Ethan is going to be proposing … for the second time in the past several weeks. The only difference this time is that he is going to be doing so with the woman that he really wanted to marry in the first place in Virginia. When he was with Vivian last time, it was really more of a case of him settling. That was who he thought that he was going to have the best life with so he just went along with it. But, at the same time he was quick to realize that despite that part of his mind that didn’t mind settling, the other part of him repeatedly nagged at him to walk away. Eventually, he did, and circumstances have him back with the woman that he loves.

There are still a couple of problems here with his plan.

1. Whether or not Virginia says yes – It’s great that Ethan seems to think that she is going to accept his ring, but he’s always seen this relationship through rose-colored glasses. He’s wanted to see what he’s wanted to see, rather than just trying to accept things as they are.

2. If he can get along with Virginia’s ex – While he doesn’t need to per se, this is the father of Virginia’s children. It is going to make life much easier if the two can manage to get along in some capacity, rather than just spending all of their time fighting.

In the end, we wonder what Virginia will think about the idea of moving out of state with him to pursue a new job, which he’s probably going to need after Bill gave him a negative recommendation and basically got him screwed out of a job at the hospital. Even though she may not be working on the study anymore, she is still working on her education and has a different sort of secretarial position.
