‘Masters of Sex’ season 2: Who has just earned a promotion?

Even though the first season of “Masters of Sex” is not over yet, we’re already hearing some news revolving around the answer to another key question: Who is going to be a series regular for the upcoming second season?

Well, we’re hearing now that a key player from some of the earlier episodes is now getting a promotion. According to Deadline, Annaleigh Ashford, who plays the role of Betty Dimello, a prostitute who received a great deal of cash from Dr. William Masters in order to play a valuable role in his sex study. She is only credited for three episodes so far this season, which suggests that there is going to be a reason for her to come back into the show in some way. Masters previously abandoned the idea of doing any work at the prostitution house after he received approval to do what he wanted to at the university hospital… also Betty married the Pretzel King and disappeared.

Thanks in part to this promotion, Ashford will be leaving her role on “Kinky Boots,” the hit Broadway production that earned a ton of Tony Awards over the past year. While this is a heck of a gig, after a while don’t you need a change? You also have to figure that there is no better TV gig out there than this one, especially when you consider the critical reception and that Showtime ordered a second season not too long into airing the first. “Masters of Sex” hasn’t had an opportunity yet to pick up any trophies, but we expect it to do rather well when the nods for the 2014 Golden Globes are revealed a little later this month.
