‘Top Chef: New Orleans’ preview: Restaurant Wars (or the most chaotic episode of the season)
If there is one episode of “Top Chef” that routinely knocks out great chefs, it it Restaurant Wars. Just take a look at what happened to Kenny on season 7 of the show, or how Kristen was eliminated during her own season. (Luckily, she was able to come back thanks to “Last Chance Kitchen” before winning the competition.)
So in watching the preview for Wednesday night’s episode, we’re almost tempted to wonder just who is the next big chef to be sent home before their time. Based on the sneak peek video below, you would almost assume that it is someone from this team with Justin, Shirley, and Sara on it. Who is supposed to be in charge of expediting the kitchen here? It looks like a mess, diners are waiting forever in order to have their food, and all Sara can do is struggle to keep everything together.
To her credit, Sara probably is the best part of this entire team at the moment. She understands that being a poor representative of front-of-the-house service can hurt you a lot in this challenge, since you want to give the diners a great overall experience. While it would be nice if someone was really making sure the rest of the wait staff knew what they were doing, she at least is giving the impression of sanity. Sometimes in this world, you can only ask for so much.
At the end of the day, though, this is rarely ever the X factor for determining who stays and who goes. It all comes down to cooking, and this is where things could be a toss-up. We personally predict that someone unexpected will go home, but it won’t be someone like Nina (who we feel is the undisputed favorite to win this entire kitchen). It wouldn’t shock us to see someone like Carlos or Justin, who have been so strong in the competition most of the time, suddenly struggle and be sent packing. Though with this being said, we could see either one of those guys going to “Last Chance Kitchen” and cleaning house until they have the opportunity to return later.
