‘New Girl’ season 3 spoilers: Are Cece and Coach going to stay together?

On this past “New Girl” season 3 episode, we saw what may be best identified as the worst nightmare imaginable for Schmidt. Not only did Cece go on a date, but she went out with Coach … one of his friends. While he asked for permission first like any follower of the Guy Code would, he still did not think that it would lead for the two having some sort of make-out session in an alley somewhere.

So is this terrible situation going to find a way to get even worse for Schmidt? Luckily for him, it seems like this “relationship” between Hannah Simone and Damon Wayans Jr.’s characters could be short-lived. Just take a look at what executive producer Liz Meriwether had to say to E! News:

“I’m not sure if the Cece-Coach relationship is going to go forward. I think it might have just been this one date that they go on. I think that Cece is just wanting to kind of like get back out there and go on a date with a really hot guy, so I think that’s kind of what is going on in her head. “

Plus, we don’t quite know that Coach is really ready for a serious relationship, either. This is a guy who, like Cece, is just trying to get back on his feet after years with someone, and he has to try and figure out the best way to do that. The real thing we’d be curious about is if there would be some massive awkwardness between these two characters if they were to ever break up … and if Cece would really even be able to go to this loft anymore, in between what happened with Schmidt and now this.
