‘The Carrie Diaries’ season 2, episode 6 preview: When Carrie starts to write…
While you can quibble about all sorts of differences between “The Carrie Diaries” and its predecessor, one of the things that the CW series is doing a very good job of at the moment is really laying the groundwork this season for Carrie Bradshaw to eventually become the sex columnist that she is a little later in the series.
Take, for instance, the promo for the new episode airing in just two weeks, where you have an opportunity to see Carrie actually start to take the reigns that could eventually lead to her becoming the writer that she wants to someday become. But the problem here? She’s having a hard time getting focused, which of course leads to her trying to do a few things here and there to help her “concentrate.” The show is starting to slowly venture into more of the material that the HBO show covered, though it’s going to be handled moving forward in the same exact what that The CW and the FCC will allow.
The next episode is entitled “The Safety Dance,” and you can read even more about it below:
“When Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) struggles with writer’s block, Weaver (guest star Chris Wood) tries to help but gets in the way. Maggie (Katie Findlay) and Sebastian (Austin Butler) grow closer after learning some shocking news. When Bennet (guest star Jake Robinson) moves to a dangerous neighborhood, Walt (Brendan Dooling) takes drastic measures to keep himself safe, with both hilarious and heartfelt results. Meanwhile, Larissa (Freema Agyeman) and Samantha (Lindsey Gort) finally find some common ground: sex.”
So why is there no new episode airing next week? The easy answer to that is Black Friday. There is no reason for The CW to try and take away form this show by putting it on a night when many may be traveling home from Thanksgiving out of state. When it does come to the overall ratings for the series, they are acceptable (at least for now) given that this is airing on a Friday night. We know that if the show has any chance of surviving, they need to stay that way.
