‘Bones’ season 9, episode 10 review: Brennan’s bachelorette party is all sorts of awesome
Even though “Bones” may now be on Friday night, that does not mean that the show is suddenly making its stories a little less worthy of primetime. “The Mystery in the Meat” may be one of our favorites of the entire season, and for a pair of reasons: The murder here was basically every elementary school student’s worst nightmare, and we also have the story of Brennan’s bachelorette party.
Basically, her “party” involved going to biker bar with her friends, assuming that it was a cowboy bar, and then proceeding to get into some sort of massive fight that you would think was from some sort of old-timey movie complete with people being thrown behind the bar. Who knew that Emily Deschanel’s character could handle herself so well against an angry mob of bikers? This may be the worst motorcycle club ever.
The emotional reason for Brennan’s party was for her to feel more like she was married and in a new phase of her life, and to an extent it did that; but, she is not the sort of person who is going to continue to play the emotional card like some other characters on the show / in TV in general.
While the case itself of course had some sort of standard culprit behind it, we were more interested in the disgusting dive to the food industry that started when there were human parts found in the “meat” at a school cafeteria. This made for the greatest / most disgusting murder reveal in quite the long time, and we were beyond entertained the rest of the way. If only every episode had this sort of hook, we’d be in heaven.
Also, we hope that “Bones” continues to have some more fun cases like these; maybe, doing more of them would enable the show to actually keep functioning on Fridays for at least a little while longer. Grade: B+.
