‘Nikita’ season 4 spoilers: Maggie Q talks series finale, possible ending for character
Friday marks the beginning of “Nikita’s” six-episode final season, and also in that sense a beginning of the end for The CW’s little engine that could. Despite being tossed around the schedule and suffering from low ratings at times, the network was at least kind enough to allow the show an opportunity to tie together its story in the end; and while six hours may not be just a ton of time, it is at least enough to ensure that the characters all get their due.
So are we going to see the title character in particular have some sort of happy ride off into the sunset? Maybe not in a traditional way, but it will be something that feels true to the character. For more on that, why not turn to the woman who knows this part better than anyone? Speaking to TVLine on this subject, Maggie Q had the following message to pass along:
“What we wanted to do at the end of the season was give people a glimpse of what could be for these characters, so that fans can also use their own imaginations to go, ‘Well, I think that even though Birkhoff ended up here, he may ultimately end up here.’ So we don’t completely wrap it up — Nikita’s not holding her first-born in the last shot of the show. [Laughs] What I liked about how we ended it is that Nikita does not change. It’s not like you see her as a different person who wants to settle down and be happy… You’ll see. It slows down for her, but she’s Nikita! So, the end is a little bit playful as well, which is cool.”
While it may sound somewhat strange to say at loud at first, what we are almost the most excited to see for the time being with “Nikita” is to actually have an opportunity to sit down and watch the show without worry. There’s nothing worse for a TV fan than thinking that something that has become in many ways your favorite TV obsession will not get the proper send-off that it deserves. However, we know now that there is nothing to worry about in this regard. You’ll get a chance to see the story tie together, and there is nothing else to do therefore other than sit back and enjoy the rest of the journey.
