‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 2, episode 7 review: Vincent, Tori, and two revelations
Did you really expect to see all of that happen on tonight’s “Beauty and the Beast”? Going into tonight’s episode, which is only one away from the midseason finale, we did expect there to be a number of shockers and moving parts. But with that being said, we did not think that there would be two big reveals when it comes to Tori rushed into a single hour.
The first one was something that would have to be explored pretty quickly: Tori has that beast blood within her just in the same way that her father did. This came after an extremely awkward exchange at the home of Cat’s biological father, where she was invited over for one awkward Thanksgiving that was also attended by Vincent and for a time even Gabe. While Cat’s dear ol’ dad is certainly hiding stuff, he was right in actually telling his daughter to get away from the beast. So far, all he’s caused for her is trouble, and a ton of it.
But it really took that second shocker to make Cat realize that she had to stop making excuses for a guy with violent outbursts that she may never be able to control: The kiss between Vincent and Tori that did not take very long after his meltdown in Montauk. These two have that sort of animal-like connection that is hard to ignore; there is a common bond, and Cat cannot offer that no matter how much she may actually love him. (On a different note, what did you think about that other kiss with JT this week?)
Moving forward from here, Cat could be in a place where she actually allows her thoughts to come to her independently, and does not feel that sort of three-ton weight on her heart of a dangerous guy that she happens to love. This is what at this point the show needs, since she cannot spend all of her time continuing to obsess over someone who may not have the capacity to love her the same way.
Just for the shocks alone, this episode deserves a good grade. But moving forward, it needs to really capitalize on these shocks if it wants to leave us on a big note before the hiatus. Grade: B.
