‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3, episode 8 video: Neal’s search for Henry
On Sunday night’s “Once Upon a Time” episode, there are going to be so many different balls in the air that for characters like Neal and Hook, this is going to be a difficult balancing act. You have to try and figure out not only how to save yourselves, but how to convince characters from your past and present to help you.
For Neal, this struggle comes in the form of trying to convince Wendy that not only is he on the good team, but that he and the rest of his little squad of fairy-tale characters has it within them to defeat Peter Pan, and save his family. At first, she’s resistant to the idea, but she changes her tune pretty quickly when she hears about what has happened with her brothers in Storybrooke. They’re willing to try to help Belle, and she therefore spills the beans about what Pan really wants with Henry, and how he is going to kill him to absorb all of Neverland’s magic and become immortal.
What we do ultimately find to be so interesting about the Peter Pan story this year is that for the longest time, we assumed that Robbie Kay’s character had some sort of alternative motive, and that he was going to be revealed to be some sort of good guy who was actually having to act with a different set of ideals in mind. However, it’s turned out that Pan is actually as evil on this show as Captain Hook is in most of the cartoons, and we imagine that some people are never going to be able to watch the old “Peter Pan” Disney cartoon the same way again.
At least at this point, Pan’s true motives are clear, and we can sit back and enjoy the next few episodes without sitting around and wondering constantly what is going on. That in itself is worth some celebration.
