‘The Tomorrow People’ episode 6 review: Did Stephen and Cara make a move?
It only took around six episode for “The Tomorrow People” to do what everyone knew was coming at some point: Cara and Stephen finally hooking up. You knew that it was going to happen almost the moment that these two started to spend some time together, and that chemistry exploded this week as they became little rebels while John was away with Russell. they faked a kiss in order to keep Ultra off of their back, and then later, they actually let the romance flow back at the headquarters.
Personally, we were actually a little more interested in shipping Astrid and Stephen, mostly because Cara has already established herself as not a very likable character by cheating. How do we know now that she won’t do the same thing to Stephen once she finds someone a little bit better for her (at least in her mind)? this is also going to send John into a tailspin of rage once he figures it out.
Personally, we found the whole Stephen / Cara thing to be way too much of a CW show by numbers. Had they had a full season to develop this, it could have been interesting. But doing it so soon? It felt desperate, and Cara doing this so quickly against John also has us worried about the character.
this all was somewhat saved by finding out some more backstory on the Russell character, who has to this point been just the happy-go-lucky guy at the headquarters who sort of keeps track of everything. But there were some moving scenes in here as we learned that his father was basically willing to sacrifice himself just to keep his son from harm. Russell’s guilt here was somewhat palpable, and it reminded us of the sort of loneliness these characters feel unless they have a supernatural partner of their own.
“The Tomorrow People” is still far from a great show, mostly because they have yet to find that balance. We get two steps forward with Russell this week, but then two steps back with the Cara / Stephen romance. Grade: C.
Did you think that Cara and Justin’s big kiss happened a little too soon, or do you believe that there really is no point at all in keeping such a “shocker” under wraps forever? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! Click here if you want to read some more news related to “The Tomorrow People,” and we will have some more soon.

I agree that Cara and Stephen hooking up was WAY too fast (although, I knew it was going to happen – poor writing). On another note, I don’t think they have any chemistry. I also think that TPTB did a poor job of explaining why John kept Cara in the dark about his ability to kill – such a lame excuse he gave her – especially after his scene with Jedikiah when he tried to convey how it takes a piece of his soul every time he kills – way more eloquent and heartbreaking.
Unfortunately, I knew it was a set up to this week’s episode but I agree that it made me like Cara less which is a shame since her backstory was interesting. From a personal standpoint I like John’s character much more than Stephen’s character. I’m interested in learning more about his backstory. I think his history and interaction with Jedikiah should be explored more. I only hope that TPTB will not have him pining for / trying to get Cara back. I hope he just accepts it eventually and moves on, hopefully to someone way more interesting and complex than Cara.

I completely agree. Cara is awesome. Im completely down with the Cara / Stephen ship. I find Astrid boring and kind of annoying. BRING IT ON!

Cara is technically not cheating because John and Cara are not together! they established that in the second episode. So Cara is not doing anything wrong except for being an independent woman. As for stephen, I hope that him and Astrid will be together but he is just being a guy this week and following the connection.

It seems Stephan, from the beginning, has wanted to take John’s place–not just for the power but for the girl. This would explain all the times Stephan disobeyed orders and basically called John a loser. Stephan’s a little too calculating for me. He should have just been honest with himself and what he really wanted, instead of going behind John’s back. Also, I don’t like Cara and Stephan, because they look too much like brother and sister with the same hair and eye color, lip pigment, and face shape. John and Cara, however, not only look great together but have more sexual chemistry with a relationship which has only been slightly explored.

Good review, I totally agree with you. I am so sick of all the CW shows, at least the ones targeting tweens and teens, are all about love triangles. I loved the idea of Cara being a mentor to Stephen but cheating on John with the newbie? And what about Stephen, so much for caring about other people’s feelings. I don’t care how much he might dislike John, you don’t go after OPP.

Whoever wrote this is crazy. Cara is awesome. Everyone I know is shipping Cara and Stephen NOT Astrid. And it’s an awesome show just compare it to any of the other new ones like Agents of Shield, Hostages, Blacklist. The relationship is not a C not to mention it just started give it a chance. And the series is an A. Your writing your feelings not facts.

And what you’re replying facts? Everyone you know? That’s how many people? Thousands? Millions? Other than that, it’s irrelevant. People are entitled to their opinions, seems like you think yours must be the only one that shall prevail.
