‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10, episode 9 preview: Sandra Oh, Ellen Pompeo, and a settlement
As for the reason why, that is something that this episode is going to investigate as it goes from start to finish. The sneak peek below at least gives you a little bit of the process, as Callie goes in to a board meeting and informs the owners of the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital what is happening. Not only that, but she says that she is going to fight the lawsuit (but that they should settle).
While Meredith at least at first seems to be pretty averse to going along with what Callie is hoping for at first here, she is quickly overruled by someone who was apparently there and saw part of what was going down with this patient Cristina. Sandra Oh’s character is quick to make it clear that the patient really does have a case here, and that perhaps settling quickly would be the best course of action rather than going to trial and risking the loss of way more money for a case that they are probably not going to win.
As for how Callie really plans to fight this lawsuit, that is a pretty good question. Unlike her estranged lover in Arizona, she does not have a stake in the hospital or the amount of funds / resources to make a victory really happen in the long-term. Just in case her life wasn’t bad enough now, especially when you consider Arizona’s new relationship with Leah, she is going to have to deal with the legal system. As someone who is a doctor first and foremost, that has to be excruciating.
