‘Parks and Recreation’ season 6 spoilers: When will Chris Pratt return for good?
While there are so many reasons to love “Parks and Recreation,” whether you are talking about Leslie Knope, Ann Perkins, or many of the other characters, there has also been a notable absence as of late: Andy. Thanks to his role in “Guardians of the Galaxy” (which required him to get supremely buff beyond recognition), the actor has been missing in action for most of the season since arriving in London with the goal of being an “ambassador.”
But are you going to see him pretty soon? It sure seems like it. The actor will be permanently back for the rest of the season starting on January 9, which is also the 100th episode of the show. As he told TVLine, much of this story is actually going to be a little bit about both Andy and Chris trying to adjust to being back in “Pawnee” at the same time:
“They thought, ‘What’s the best way to [reintroduce] Chris, who’s coming home Tuesday at midnight and goes back to work at 6 am on Wednesday?’ And they said, ‘Let’s just make him really tired.’ How very thoughtful of them to write that in,” Pratt tells us. “So, there’s an episode where Andy just has jet lag the whole [time]. He can’t get on his schedule, so halfway through conversations he falls asleep. Easiest work I’ve ever done.”
With us set to lose both Ann and Chris this season, it is pretty clear that we are going to have to see some more of Andy to fill in the cracks, and help us miss the departed characters a little bit less. He is one of the series’ best characters, and one of the most likable. Just imagine the sort of hijinks that Andy, April, and Leslie could get into with Ron being the only real supervision that they have. (Oh, and you can also throw Tom in there, as well.)
