‘Glee’ season 5 song spoilers: Hear Lea Michele, Ioan Gruffudd perform ‘Funny Girl’ track

Remember that Rachel Berry is a part of “Funny Girl”? We certainly understand if it may have slipped your mind at some point. There has been quite a bit that has transpired (some of it tragic) on “Glee” season 5 since it was revealed that Lea Michele’s character had won the leading role in the Broadway production, and while she is getting the opportunity to start up work now, it’s safe to say that quite a bit has changed for her in the process.

This performance of “You Are Woman, I Am Man” from the show likely comes out of some sort of rehearsal for the play, and features Rachel performing alongside Paolo San Pablo, played by a man who was literally Mr. Fantastic in Ioan Gruffudd. It’s hard to really gauge any sort of chemistry that they will have as actors based on this performance, but Ioan at least has a nice voice and this show that Rachel really is ready for some of the responsibilities that lay before her in this production, which we’ll be seeing more and more of throughout the season.

In the end, your enjoyment of this song is probably going to almost completely depend on just how much you really like “Funny Girl.” This is the difficulty with much of the Rachel story over the course of the next several weeks, since it’s revolving around a play that is already out there in existing. This isn’t like “Smash,” where they are creating an entire production on the fly in hopes that you like it and check it out. What will be fascinating about it is watching Rachel go through all of the stages of production, from rehearsals to tryouts to eventually that grand opening night, if everything goes according to plan. That will be her opportunity to ultimately say that a star is in fact born.
