‘New Girl’ season 3, episode 8 preview: Could Coach actually get Nick in shape?
One week after we saw the first debut of Coach on “New Girl” season 3, the next question morphs into something like the following: Just how much are we going to be seeing him on the show moving forward?
For the time being, there is still a bit of mystery as to if the man played by Damon Wayans Jr. is going to be moving into the loft full-time. There is seemingly an opening in the residence, thanks mostly to the fact that Schmidt is now in his own little apartment across the way in the loft.
What is going to come up in this episode is pretty darn hysterical, mostly because the story for this episode, at least based on the new promo for it, is going to be all about Nick’s attempts to finally get in shape. There have been a constant stream of jokes about his weight ever since the beginning of the show, even though he seems perfectly fine from this vantage point. Therefore, he ends up enlisting the help of a guy in Coach who … well, coaches people. He makes them feel better about themselves, at least after he is done making them cry. If there are two things that we have learned about Nick over the past three seasons, it is that he is not only lazy, but he is also extremely stubborn. Therefore, we expect a rather difficult challenge when it comes to Coach really getting this guy to do much of anything.
We have already learned that no matter what happens in this story and others, Wayans is going to be around for the rest of the season in that character. Coach is a guy that brings a different sort of energy to the show, and while we cannot say that this past episode was our favorite of the entire season, it was at least entertaining to see someone different with the gang.
