‘The Tomorrow People’ episode 5 review: Who learned about Stephen’s secret?
We have been hard on “The Tomorrow People” for most of the season; as a matter of fact, we have mocked it relentlessly. But at least Wednesday night started to do a few things that gave us some hope. It pushed the world of the show rather than just allowing it to exist within some sort of impossible vacuum, where no one started to figure out just what Stephen was up to.
The big reveal tonight was that for the first time since the beginning of the show, someone other than the Tomorrow People or Ultra learned about the secret in a real, substantial way, and of course, it was Astrid. While she had seen him teleport before, he had not admitted to it until now. This changes the game, and begs all sorts of interesting questions. Will Cara read his mind about it, or be too busy trying to stay away from hooking up with him to notice? This does at least make things very interesting.
Also, finding out that John has been hiding something from Cara and the others in a “one of these things is not like the others” way when it comes to losing what he did at the hands of Jedikiah was a nice reveal. This sets up some more of that inevitable feeling that these two are going to eventually split up, and we would not be shocked to see John turn rogue and go on some sort of serious of revenge tear against the group that he once swore to protect.
All of the Tomorrow People were in danger, and a few even died, at the hands of a leak that came out courtesy of one of their own. This was a terrible move that Stephen blamed on himself, though it wasn’t even his fault. What Cara did to this traitor in zapping him of his powers pretty much proves that she is willing to do everything to protect these people. Seriously. Everything.
This is still a flawed show, since the writing is choppy at times and the whole thing takes itself far too seriously, but at least the show really tried to evolve this week, and we appreciate that enough to give this the highest grade that we have for an episode so far this year. Grade: C+.

I was annoyed Cara didnt get a chance to read Stephens mind. Nice review. C+ is about right.
