‘MasterChef Junior’ video: Preview the first part of the finale here!
Over the course of the next two weeks, Fox and “MasterChef Junior” are going to end up declaring the first-ever champion, and the question that they will be asking themselves in the process is who will deserve it the most? You have four contestants left in Dara, Alexander, Jack, and Troy who have done some great things in the kitchen, but have also had some struggles here and there.
In the video below from Friday’s episode, you can see that for at least the first part of the finale, there will be a challenge geared around a classic question: What came first, the chicken or the egg? The will be a challenge broken into parts, and the contestants are going to start things off here by focusing on the eggs.
If we were to pick a favorite right now to win, it would actually be Dara and her giant bow over the longtime favorite Alexander. Why is that? The simple answer is that he’s struggled the past two weeks, and while he may have the most overall talent, he seems to get rattled more than Dara does. She is probably the most consistent, and isn’t as risky of a pick to win. Troy seems to be the one most destined to miss out on the finale thanks to a lack of air time compared to the others, but in all honesty, isn’t an Alexander / Dara final two inevitable? They have been the best overall, they have the most experience, and they also don’t always get along. There’s a good story there that would make for a great showdown.
Now, we just have to wonder what sort of challenge would be appropriate for a culinary clash of the titans between a pair of youngsters.
Let’s close this article by saying that when push comes to shove, we do hope that “MasterChef Junior” is a show that does come back on the air next year. It did not last for a particularly long time, but it was a fun little detour that reminded us that the majority of these kid contestants cook better than most adults.
